Being a versatile and chameleonic musician, and also a great performer, able to adapt to different genres and vocal challenges, Tiago was invited to join the cast of “Teatro Cinearte – A Barraca” in the play Fernão Mentes? in 2014, a musical play where he performed alongside Maria do Céu Guerra, one of the most talented Portuguese actresses of all times, winner of the Best European Actress 2019 award.
It all started when Maria do Céu Guerra and Hélder Costa asked me if I’d like to be in charge of the Musical Direction of the play «Fernão Mentes?». Mind you that this play is widely known for featuring a musical score written and performed by some of the best Portuguese musicians of all time. So it was an invitation nobody in their sound mind could refuse. As it turns out, I also ended up participating in the play as an actor, without having the years and years of specific training it always takes to be an actor. And it was an amazing and unforgettable experience!
The debut was so positive and the reviews were so amazing, that he was invited to come back and join the theatrical group once again in the play Tartufo.
He had a few invitations to return to theatre, but he chose to put his music first (or the music chose him) and invest heart and soul on releasing his long awaited album Half Full.
I was fully aware that, in order to be a pretty good – or even an excellent – actor, I would have to invest years and years of my life and work very hard to achieve that level. It’s very demanding. And music is and always will be my number one priority.
